Los Angeles observes Pacific Daylight Savings Time and New York obviously observes Eastern Daylight Savings Time. If it's a nonstop flight from JFK, the flight time is 6 hours. So if his original flight leaves at 7:00 a.m. and the flight time is 6 hours (0700 hr. + 0600 hr.) = 1300 hrs. These times are written using the 24 hours clock system which all airline and military personnels use. Therefore, his plane lands at 1300 hrs. New York Time which is 1:00 p.m. Los Angeles observes Pacific Time, they are 3 hours behind.
